2021 Ford Explorer Trim Levels

Most of the recent changes that came to the Ford Explorer were done on the redesign for the 2020 mode year. That is not to say there have been no 2021 Ford Explorer changes. In fact, the 2021 model now includes heated seats and a heated steering wheel option for the XLT trim level which is also gaining the Sport Appearance package. A new cargo organizer has been added as an option on the XLT, Limited, and ST models but is standard on the Platinum level

2021 Explorer Engine Options

Under the hood, the Base, XLT, and Limited trims feature a 300-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine. The Platinum model ups the power with a 365-hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. And if that's not enough "vroom" for you, the ST uses that same engine configuration but improves it to 400 horsepower. The new Limited Hybrid level pairs a 3.3-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor. All model engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. For fuel economy, the hybrid option is the best choice getting an estimated 27 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway.

Tech & Safety Features

The standard infotainment features on the 2021 Ford Explorer includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability plus a Wi-Fi hotspot. The 10.1" vertical screen is available on the Platinum and ST levels.
